Hostinger technology FAQs
What technology powers Hostinger's hosting platform?
Hostinger's hosting platform runs on LiteSpeed Web Server with SSD and NVMe drives. On shared hosting, CloudLinux LVE containers isolate each account. Every plan includes hPanel, Hostinger's in-house control panel, along with Cloudflare-protected nameservers, free Let's Encrypt SSL, and Hostinger's in-house CDN. Hostinger owns its infrastructure rather than reselling another provider's.
How fast are Hostinger's servers?
Hostinger servers return responses in 11–274 ms, depending on the visitor's location. This speed comes from LiteSpeed Web Server, which outperforms Apache and Nginx, combined with SSD and NVMe drives that read up to 35 times faster than standard HDDs. Data centers across four continents also reduce the distance between visitors and their websites.
What uptime does Hostinger guarantee?
Hostinger guarantees 99.9% uptime per calendar month under its Hosting Agreement SLA. If a customer's site falls below that threshold, they can receive a credit equal to 5% of the monthly hosting fee toward future purchases, provided they file a claim within 30 days. Scheduled maintenance, DDoS attacks, and downtime caused by the user are excluded from the guarantee.
Where are Hostinger's data centers located?
Hostinger operates data centers across four continents. In Europe, they are located in France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. In Asia, they are in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. In North America, they are in Phoenix, Boston, and Asheville in the United States. In South America, they are in Brazil. Customers can select their data center when creating a website.
How does Hostinger secure hosted websites?
Hostinger protects websites with ModSecurity for web server filtering, Suhosin for PHP hardening, and PHP open_basedir for isolation. Cloudflare-protected nameservers help protect DNS infrastructure from DDoS attacks. VPS plans also include BitNinja full-stack protection with a web application firewall. Every plan includes free Let's Encrypt SSL, 24/7 monitoring, and anti-malware scanning.
Does Hostinger back up websites automatically?
Yes. Business plans and above receive daily backups retained for 7 days, while every shared hosting plan receives automatic weekly backups. Customers can restore or download their backups directly from hPanel without contacting support.
What is hPanel and how does it differ from cPanel?
hPanel is Hostinger's in-house control panel for managing domains, email, files, databases, and WordPress installations. It is included free with every Hostinger hosting plan, while cPanel is third-party licensed software available with separate Hostinger cPanel plans. Both handle the same core hosting tasks, but hPanel is built specifically for Hostinger's infrastructure.
Does Hostinger handle sudden traffic spikes?
Yes. CloudLinux LVE containers limit each account's CPU, RAM, I/O, and process count, preventing one busy website from slowing down others on the same server. Higher-tier plans provide larger resource limits. LiteSpeed Cache serves repeat visitors from memory instead of regenerating pages, while Cloud and VPS plans provide dedicated resources for sustained high traffic.
Can I trust Hostinger with a business website?
Yes. Hostinger protects business websites with a 99.9% uptime SLA, daily backups, free SSL certificates, a web application firewall, and 24/7 live chat support. Business and Cloud plans also include dedicated resources and Object Cache for WordPress. Hostinger migrates existing websites for free using its in-house WordPress migrator.
