When you create a website using Hostinger AI Builder, SSL certificates are managed automatically. This ensures your site remains secure without the need for manual configuration or renewal. This article covers how to ensure your certificate is active and how to resolve common connection errors.
How to activate SSL on Hostinger AI Builder
To ensure the automatic activation of your SSL certificate, follow these steps:
- Connect a custom domain or subdomain to your website. See how to connect a domain in manual mode or how to connect a domain in agentic mode for the steps.
- Ensure the connected domain or subdomain is pointing to Hostinger, you can review this guide to learn how to point your domain in manual mode and how to point your domain in agentic mode. If you have made changes to DNS, wait up to 24 hours for propagation, the time it takes for DNS changes to update globally.
- Publish or update your website. See how to publish a website in manual mode or how to publish your app in agentic mode for the steps.
HTTPS is enabled by default, and the same certificate covers both the root domain (domain.tld) and the www subdomain (www.domain.tld).
Troubleshoot Hostinger AI Builder SSL errors
If you see errors such as Not Secure, Not Private, or ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Verify your website is published: Ensure you have clicked the Publish button in the editor.
- Check domain connection: Confirm the domain is correctly connected and linked to your Hostinger AI Builder site.
- Review DNS records.
- If using Hostinger nameservers, check that your domain has the correct values.
- If using external nameservers, ensure you are using the correct CNAME values for the root domain and www.
NOTE
A or AAAA records are not supported for pointing a domain to a Hostinger AI Builder website.
- Wait for propagation: After updating records, allow time for the changes to take effect.
- Clear browser cache: Check your website on a different device or a private (incognito) window.
Once these steps are completed, your Hostinger AI Builder website will be fully secured with an active SSL certificate. Visitors can now browse your site safely via a secure HTTPS connection.
NOTES
- SSL certificates cannot be uninstalled or reinstalled on Hostinger AI Builder websites due to the automatic installation process.
- Custom SSL certificates are not supported in Hostinger AI Builder.
- HTTPS is forced by default; any HTTP requests will redirect to HTTPS automatically.
