Hostinger Webmail automatically displays your Gravatar image as your profile picture. If your domain-based email address is linked to a Gravatar account, your photo appears in the Profile section of Webmail without any manual setup.
How it works
Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) is a service that links a profile picture to your email address. Once your email is associated with a Gravatar, that image is automatically pulled and displayed as your avatar in Hostinger Webmail.
How to set up a Gravatar
If you want to add a profile picture to your Hostinger Webmail, you can create a Gravatar for free:
-
Go to
gravatar.comand sign up, or log in if you already have a WordPress.com account. -
Add the exact email address you use with Hostinger Webmail.
-
Upload a profile photo and confirm your email address.
-
Once confirmed, your photo automatically appears in Hostinger Webmail.
Important to note
For newly created mailboxes, you must wait until the domain is fully propagated with the correct MX and DNS records in place before you can sign up for or set up Gravatar. During sign-up, Gravatar sends a verification email to your mailbox — if the domain isn’t propagated yet, that email won’t be delivered and registration can’t be completed.
Propagation can take 24–48 hour, once completed you can proceed to setup your Gravatar account, after a few minutes your Hostinger Webmail profile will display your Gravatar image as expected.
Frequently asked questions
-
I have a Gravatar but my photo is not showing. What should I do? Make sure the email address on your Gravatar account matches the one you use in Hostinger Webmail. Accounts with regular free emails (such as
@gmail.com,@hotmail.com, or@outlook.com) will not work for your custom mailbox. If your mailbox was recently created, wait at least 24 hours for DNS propagation to complete. -
Can I set a profile picture without using Gravatar? Currently, Webmail profile pictures are powered exclusively by Gravatar. If you do not have a Gravatar account, the default initial-based avatar is displayed.
-
Will this profile picture also be shown to recipients? No. The Gravatar image is only visible within the Hostinger Webmail Profile section. It does not affect outgoing emails or how recipients see your messages.
