How to sell subscription products on Hostinger

Learn how to set up recurring billing and sell subscription products using Hostinger platforms

Updated 2 weeks ago

While Hostinger AI Builder manual mode supports multiple product types, native recurring billing is only available on Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode via Hostinger Ecommerce. If you use Hostinger AI Builder manual mode, you can implement a workaround using external payment links.

Supported product types in Hostinger AI Builder manual mode

When managing your online store through the Online Store section in the left sidebar of the editor, you can natively sell the following product types:

  • Physical products.

  • Digital products.

  • Services.

  • Appointments.

  • Donations.

  • Gift cards.

  • Print-on-demand.

None of these native options include recurring billing. To offer subscriptions to your customers, use one of the two methods below.

Set up subscriptions using Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode

Subscription functionality is available natively for projects built with Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode via Hostinger Ecommerce. This is the recommended option if recurring billing is a core part of your business model.

How Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode subscriptions work

Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode connects directly to Hostinger Ecommerce. You can manage your subscription plans within the store management interface. See subscriptions in Hostinger Ecommerce for more detail on managing them once set up.

Stripe is required as the payment provider, as PayPal is not supported for subscriptions. Customers can manage their cancellations and plan modifications directly through the Stripe customer portal.

How to configure subscriptions in Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode

  1. Create an ecommerce store and connect your Stripe account.

  2. Inside your store management dashboard, navigate to Sales Channels and add your Hostinger AI Builder agentic mode website.

  3. In the Hostinger AI Builder AI chat interface, specify your requirement by typing a prompt, for example: I want to create a subscription-based product.

  4. The system automatically activates the subscription workflow.

For more information, see the official guide on Subscriptions in online store.

If your website is built using the standard Hostinger AI Builder manual mode rather than agentic mode, you can still offer subscriptions by integrating Stripe directly. This method uses Stripe Payment Links or Stripe Checkout to handle recurring billing externally.

This setup requires configuring recurring products inside your Stripe dashboard independently of your Hostinger store interface.
  1. Log in to your Stripe dashboard and create a recurring product to generate a payment link.

  2. In the AI Builder editor, add a button or a text link to your page.

  3. Link the button or text directly to your external Stripe payment link URL.

For step-by-step external instructions, refer to the official Stripe documentation on recurring payments.
