While you can have multiple Hostinger hosting plans for different projects, purchasing a new plan creates a separate service rather than extending an existing one.
Hosting plans cannot be merged, and content is not moved automatically between them for free. For this reason, it is recommended to renew your original plan to avoid manual work and downtime.
Options if the original plan is eligible for renewal
You can renew your existing hosting plan at any time while it’s active. If your previous hosting plan expired less than 30 days ago, you can reactivate it. This is the fastest way to bring your websites and email back online without performing manual processes.
Alternative: Refund to Hostinger balance
If your newly purchased hosting plan is eligible for a refund, you can request a refund to your Hostinger balance. You can then use these funds to renew your original plan.
Moving content to a new hosting plan
If you choose to use the new plan instead of renewing the original one, you must move your data manually or use available tools. Note the following options based on your website type:
- WordPress: Use the automated paid migration tool or perform a manual migration using your backups.
- Hostinger Website Builder: Use the automated paid migration tool. Note that eCommerce data will not be migrated.
- Hostinger Horizons: Use the free duplicate website feature.
- Custom website (PHP/HTML): Perform a manual migration using your backups.
Using automated tools for WordPress, Hostinger Website Builder, or Horizons requires the original hosting plan to be active. In addition to moving your websites, you must also manually perform the following:
- Reconnect your domains to the websites on the new plan.
- Set up all mailboxes and migrate your email data.
- Recreate hosting configurations, such as cron jobs and FTP accounts.
Moving content from an expired hosting plan
If the plan expired less than 30 days ago, you can download a backup of all custom PHP/HTML website files and databases, and restore them on the new hosting plan. To generate a backup:
- Go to hPanel → Websites.
- Locate the expired hosting plan and click Generate Backups on the expiration notice.
- Select the option to generate a download link.
- Download the files once they are ready.
NOTES
- Hostinger Website Builder and Hostinger Horizons sites are not included in these backups; they are permanently lost if the original plan is not renewed.
- Mailboxes and email data are not included in website backups and must be restored separately.
If renewal is no longer available
If the plan expired more than 30 days ago, it cannot be renewed or accessed. In this case, a local backup stored on your computer is required for you to manually restore your websites to the new plan.
By renewing your original plan or migrating your data, you can ensure your website remains online. For the most seamless experience, enable auto-renewal, or check the Billing section in hPanel to renew services before they expire.
