What is the EPP code and how to use it at Hostinger

Learn more about the EPP, or authorization code for domain transfers

Updated 3 days ago

The EPP code, also known as an authorization or auth code, is a secret and unique set of characters that the domain registrar assigns to a domain, and most domain transfers require it. Get the EPP code for a domain registered at Hostinger in the Domains section of Hostinger dashboard. To transfer a domain to Hostinger, get the EPP code from your current registrar.

Why the EPP code matters

This code is a safeguard that, along with other security measures (e.g., domain lock), guarantees that only the rightful owner can transfer a domain. If the wrong EPP code is provided when setting up a domain transfer, the transfer will not be completed.

The EPP code is required to transfer most TLDs, such as .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us.

Get your EPP code

At Hostinger, you can find the EPP code in the Domains section of Hostinger dashboard

To transfer a domain to Hostinger from another registrar, get the EPP code from that registrar. Step-by-step guides are available for GoDaddy, Bluehost, and HostGator.

Exceptions

There are some exceptions, such as .CO.UK or .EU domains, that use a different code.

Some domain registrars don’t show the EPP code in their interface, so you may need to ask your domain provider to share the EPP code with you directly.
