Finding and purchasing a domain name
To search for and buy a new domain name:
- Navigate to the Hostinger Domain Checker.
- Enter your desired domain name in the search bar and click Search.
- If the domain is available, click Add to cart. A list of alternative domain extensions (TLDs) also appears to help you protect or expand your brand.
- Select any additional domains you want and add them to your cart.
- In the cart, select your preferred registration period. Domain privacy protection is included automatically for free if the extension supports it.
- Proceed through the checkout flow.
- You will also be presented with more options of domain extensions, also known as TLDs, that you can register in order to boost your brand:
What to Do if the Domain Name Is Not Available
If your chosen domain name is short or uses common terms, chances are it may be already taken by someone else – therefore, unavailable for purchase:
In that case, you can choose a different TLD. Scroll down to find more options and select Add to Cart next to your preferred alternative to proceed with domain registration.

How to Use the Domain with Your Website
Step 1 — Register Your Domain
It is recommended to register your domain as soon as possible after purchase since the domain is still available until registration is completed. You will find the option to set up the domain order on the Home page of your Hostinger account:
- In the domain purchase modal, choose an existing contact profile to use for this domain, or create a new one.

If you are registering the domain on behalf of a customer, enter their contact details here.

If any required details are missing from your selected profile, complete the information on the additional details screen.
- Confirm your details and click Finish registration. The domain registers instantly using the selected profile details.
NOTES
- If you register a domain using someone else’s contact details, notify them that they must complete the mandatory domain verification process via email.
- If an error occurs during or immediately after registration, navigate to the Domains section of hPanel, locate your domain, and click Retry.
- Direct contact profile selection during purchase currently applies only to the single domain purchase modal in hPanel.
Step 2 — Connect the Domain to Your Website
In case you are planning to create a website, the domain name is one part of what you need – the other is a hosting plan for your website’s files. Alternatively, you can opt for a dedicated website builder.
- Using Hostinger hosting: You can assign your new domain to any active Hostinger hosting plan or website built with Hostinger Website Builder directly through hPanel.
- Using external hosting: Domains purchased at Hostinger can be used with any external hosting provider. You can point your domain to external services by updating your nameservers or configuring specific DNS records.
After you specify new DNS records for your domain, DNS propagation starts, which may last up to 24 hours. Once your domain is pointed elsewhere by nameservers, its DNS zone is also automatically moved to the provider you pointed the domain to and should be managed from there.
