How to import emails to Hostinger Email via webmail

Importing your email messages to Hostinger Email via webmail

Updated 1 week ago

You can import emails to Hostinger Email in two ways: upload a backup file in EML, MIME, or Mbox format through the old Webmail, or import directly from another mailbox, including another Hostinger Email account, using the new Webmail.

Import from a file

If you use Hostinger Email and have a backup of your emails in EML, MIME, or Mbox format, you can easily import them via webmail. If you have several files, you can pack them into a .ZIP archive.

  1. Access the webmail of Hostinger Email. Then, click on More, and select Import messages:
Hostinger webmail More menu with Import option highlighted
  2. Click on Browse to select your email backup file, and then click on Import to start the process:

Depending on the size of your file, it may take some time to complete the process. After the import is completed, a notification will appear:

If you want to transfer emails between two Hostinger Email accounts instead of exporting them to your device, see how to move data between Hostinger Email accounts.

NOTES

  • The maximum allowed file size is 256 MB; if your file is bigger, you can split it

  • The import from a file option is only available in the old Webmail

Import using IMAP

Instead of uploading a backup file, you can also import mail directly from another mailbox, including another Hostinger Email account or a mailbox with a different provider. This option is available in the new Webmail.

  1. Log in to Webmail.
  2. Go to Settings, then Email Import.
  3. Click Import emails.

  4. Enter the email address you’re importing from and click Continue.
  5. Select the email provider the account is hosted with, or choose Other and enter the IMAP server manually. Enter the account’s password, then click Continue.
  6. Review the accounts shown under Import from and Import to, then click Start import.
  7. To bring over your contacts as well, use Import contacts from the confirmation screen after starting the import.

The import runs in the background, so you can continue using your mailbox while it completes. To check the status of a past or ongoing import, go to Settings → Email Import.
