How to downgrade a Hostinger hosting plan

Change your Hostinger hosting subscription to a lower-tier plan directly through hPanel to better suit your website needs and manage your balance.

Updated 2 weeks ago

To ensure your hosting services always align with your current requirements, Hostinger allows you to downgrade your hosting plan. This process adjusts your resources and adds any prorated amount to your Hostinger balance, which you can use for future invoices or services.

Before you start

  • The self-service hosting downgrade feature is available on all Hostinger brands.

  • Downgrades only apply to your current billing period; the expiration date of your plan remains the same to ensure no immediate charges occur during the transition.

How to downgrade your hosting plan

  1. Log in to your Hostinger account and navigate to the Billing section.

  2. Select Subscriptions from the menu.

What to expect

When you process a downgrade, the system handles the transition based on the following logic:

  • Rollback: If you are performing a rollback, the refund for the price difference is issued directly to your Hostinger account balance.

  • Regular downgrade: The current billing period and expiration date are kept. A proration amount based on the unused portion of your higher-tier plan is added to your balance.

  • Eligibility: If your account is not eligible for an automated downgrade, hPanel will provide a specific reason, such as resource usage exceeding the target plan’s limits.

Successfully downgrading your plan helps you optimize your hosting costs while maintaining your online presence. You can now manage your updated resources and balance directly from your dashboard.

Note: Any prorated funds from a downgrade are currently issued only to your Hostinger balance. If the entire amount is used, the remaining balance will be zero and no credits will be added to your Hostinger balance.
