Hostinger to financially support employees who volunteer for military service
Hostinger is introducing financial support for its employees in Lithuania who choose to volunteer for military service, helping them maintain financial stability while contributing to the country’s defence.
Under the new initiative, Hostinger employees will receive a monthly payment of up to €2,300 gross while completing their military service, with their positions at Hostinger preserved throughout their service. The initiative is part of Hostinger’s broader commitment to supporting its employees and contributing to Lithuania’s total defence model.
Supporting employees who choose to serve
Military service can require employees to step away from their usual professional responsibilities for an extended period. Hostinger believes that choosing to serve should not mean having to choose between contributing to the country’s defence and maintaining financial security.
“A secure and prosperous Lithuania is something we all have a role in building – people and organisations alike. As businesses, we have a role to play in creating the conditions that make it easier for our people to act on their values. Our employees bring their values, experiences, and everything they learn beyond their roles into the workplace. For some, serving their country is an important expression of those values. Military service can also build resilience, discipline, responsibility, and problem-solving skills that are valuable at work and beyond. We want to support our employees in acting on what matters to them, without having to worry about their financial stability. It’s a practical way to support our people while also contributing to Lithuania’s total defence,” says Sofija Čelutkienė, Chief People Officer at Hostinger.
The financial support will apply to voluntary Military Service and will be available to all Hostinger employees in Lithuania. Employees will be able to receive the support for a period of up to nine months, depending on the duration of their service. Throughout their service, their position at Hostinger will be preserved, and they will continue to receive additional benefits, including the additional health insurance.
Contributing to Lithuania’s comprehensive defence
Hostinger’s initiative comes as Lithuania continues to strengthen its total defence model, which brings together citizens, businesses, public institutions and other organisations.
The Visuotinė gynyba association aims to help Lithuania build a comprehensive defence model based on the principle that every citizen and organisation should understand their role in the country’s defence. Its goal is for Lithuania to have a strong country-wide defence system by 2030, with businesses and organisations prepared to understand and fulfil their role.
“It is important when organizations not only talk about Total Defence, but also take concrete action to help people participate in it. Financial support from an employer can be a meaningful encouragement for an employee to choose military service, as it reduces one of the practical barriers – financial uncertainty. Initiatives like this strengthen not only employees’ preparedness, but society’s readiness as a whole, while also representing a meaningful contribution from businesses to the country’s security,” says Tomas Godliauskas, head of the association.
Hostinger has also signed the Charter of Lithuanian Organisations’ Commitments to Total Defence, a voluntary framework designed to help organisations strengthen both employee preparedness and organisational resilience. By signing the Charter, Hostinger commits to taking concrete steps each year to strengthen its preparedness and contribute to Lithuania’s total defence.
This builds on Hostinger’s other contributions to defence and resilience. In 2025, the company supported the 4 Percent initiative, a business-led movement advocating for increased defence funding in Lithuania. Hostinger also continued supporting Ukraine’s defence efforts by contributing to the production of almost 200 FPV drones across five workshops and hosting a drone-flying workshop to support operational readiness.
