Changing DNS Records at other domain registrars for Hostinger

Changing the DNS records (NS, TXT, MX, A, etc.) of your domain in different domain registrars/hosting providers

Updated 5 years ago

If you purchased a domain from another registrar, you can use it with Hostinger by making changes on the DNS records.

There are two ways to do this:

Option 1 – Use Hostinger’s nameservers (recommended)

This is the easiest option. By using Hostinger’s nameservers, all the necessary records for your website and Hostinger Email will be set up for you automatically.

  • If you plan to use another email service (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), you will need to remove the Hostinger Email records and replace them with the DNS records provided by your email service after the nameservers change is complete.
  • The exact nameservers for your domain are listed in hPanel → Websites → Dashboard → Plan details. Use only those two values and delete any others.

Option 2 – Add DNS Records manually

Choose this method if:

  • You want to keep your domain’s DNS zone at your current registrar, or
  • Your registrar does not support changing nameservers.

You will need to add the following records manually:

When choosing this method, any further changes (e.g. IP updates) must be managed at your registrar.

If your registrar is not listed, the process is very similar for most providers:

  1. Log in to your domain provider account and open the domain management area.

  2. Find the DNS Zone Editor, DNS Management, Manage DNS, or similar option.

  3. Add or edit the DNS records according to the method you chose above.

  4. Save the changes.

  5. Allow up to 24 hours for DNS propagation.

If you require further guidance or encounter issues during this process, please contact your domain provider’s support team.
