KasmVNC is an open-source remote desktop server from Kasm Technologies that replaces the ageing RFB protocol with a web-native stack. Instead of bolting a web page onto classic VNC, it streams the desktop over WebSockets using modern codecs, adds lossless clipboard sync, file upload and download, audio, webcam and gamepad passthrough, and multi-user seat sharing — all through a plain HTTPS connection your browser already speaks.
This template runs the upstream reference desktop image, giving you a persistent XFCE workspace on your own VPS. Self-hosting keeps every session, file, and keystroke on infrastructure you control, with no per-seat licensing, no broker service phoning home, and no RDP or VNC ports exposed to the internet.
