Sherlock is an open-source OSINT command-line tool that takes a username and checks whether it is registered on more than 400 social networks, forums, and community sites. It queries each site directly and reports the profile URLs it finds, turning a single handle into a map of an online footprint for investigators, security researchers, journalists, and anyone auditing their own exposure.
Running Sherlock on your own VPS keeps every lookup on infrastructure you control, so the handles you investigate are never handed to a third-party search service and requests leave from your server instead of your workstation. This template keeps the container running so a scan can be started at any time by opening the container terminal and running sherlock with a username, with reports written to a persistent volume that survives restarts.
