At Hostinger, we highly recommend installing an SSL certificate on all domains and subdomains hosted on your VPS. Whether you opt for a free SSL solution or a paid certificate, installing SSL ensures encrypted communication and boosts trust with your users.

You have a few options to install SSL depending on the control panel or operating system.

Free SSL

If your OS doesn’t include a control panel with SSL functionality or if you prefer a manual approach, you can use Certbot to install a free SSL certificate.

For operating systems that do include control panels with built-in SSL options, you can follow these guides:

These are just a selection of the OS panels we support. For other OS, ensure to consult your control panel’s official documentation or community forums.

Paid SSL

You can also install a paid SSL certificate, such as a wildcard SSL, if preferred. For installation instructions, refer to your SSL vendor’s documentation.

NOTE

• SSL certificates cannot be installed on IP addresses. Therefore, if you log in to your VPS panel using an IP-based URL, it may appear as “Not Secure”. In that case, you can check out our guide on how to fix the “Your connection is not private” error on VPS.
