Overview
The integrated backend in Hostinger Horizons is the system that powers everything behind the scenes of your project: such as storing data, managing users, handling logins, sending emails, and saving uploaded files.
Instead of connecting and configuring external services, Horizons includes all of this functionality directly in the platform. You describe what you want to build, and Horizons takes care of the technical infrastructure automatically.
This allows you to create fully functional websites and applications without managing databases, APIs, or third-party tools.
What the integrated backend includes
The integrated backend provides the core systems required to run data-driven projects, including:
-
Data storage for users, forms, and content: Up to 5GB of storage per project
-
Authentication for logins and account access
-
File storage for uploaded images or documents
-
Automated email sending for actions like confirmations or notifications: Up to 500 automated emails per day per project
These components work together automatically based on your project’s needs.
Authentication options
The integrated backend supports multiple authentication methods. To add them, simply describe your requirements in the Horizons prompt.
Available authentication methods include:
-
Email and password: Users register and log in using email and password.
-
One-time passwords (OTP via email): Users receive a one-time login code instead of using a password.
-
Single Sign-On (SSO): Users can sign in using third-party providers such as Google, Apple, Facebook, or Microsoft. (When using SSO, users may be asked to grant consent to share basic account information, depending on the provider)
-
Password reset flows and account recovery processes are handled automatically.
Built-in security features
The integrated backend includes default security layers to protect accounts and project data.
For example, login alerts on new browser (enabled by default) notify users if their account is accessed from a new device or browser.
What you don’t need anymore
When using the integrated backend, you don’t need to:
-
create external database accounts
-
connect APIs manually
-
manage authentication providers separately
-
configure email services on your own
Everything is managed within Horizons as part of your project.
The integrated backend is ideal for users who want to build more advanced projects (such as sites with logins, forms, or dynamic content) without dealing with backend complexity. It’s especially useful if you want powerful functionality but prefer to focus on what your project does, not how the infrastructure works. It is particularly suited for users who want complex login systems and secure user management without the technical complexity of configuring external backend infrastructure.
Common questions
- Do I need to manually connect the backend? No. The backend is automatically provisioned when your project requires features such as authentication, form storage, or dynamic content.
- Do I need an additional account? No. All backend services run inside Hostinger Horizons.
- Do I need to pay extra? No additional cost applies during the Beta launch period. Availability, limits, or pricing may change in the future.
- Does email sending work automatically? Yes. Registration confirmations, password resets, and other automated flows are configured automatically (up to 500 emails per day per project).
- Can I break my published site while editing? Changes made in preview mode do not affect your live site unless you publish them. This allows you to safely experiment and modify your project structure.
- Can I migrate from an external backend (e.g., Supabase)? If your project was previously built using an external backend, it cannot be directly migrated to the integrated backend. To use the integrated backend, you need to create a new project configured with it from the start.
- What about payments and third-party services? The integrated backend covers authentication, data storage (up to 5GB), and automated emails. For payment processing (such as Stripe or PayPal), a third-party provider is still required.
