If you use Hostinger Email and want to import emails from another provider or migrate your email to Hostinger<\/a> while your original email account is still active<\/b>, follow the steps below.<\/p>

Alternatively, you can also migrate emails using the IMAP Sync Tool.<\/a><\/div>

Step 1 – Gather details<\/h2>

First, create<\/a> the required email accounts at Hostinger Email. Importing emails to other email accounts is also possible but not recommended.<\/p>

Then, gather the following details:<\/p>

    Source email account <\/b>(email address)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Source email password<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Mail server <\/b>(IMAP<\/b>) name<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>

    If you use another email service or are unsure about your IMAP server, contact your email hosting provider to request this information.<\/p>

    If your domain no longer points to the original email provider’s DNS record, you might experience issues connecting to IMAP. You can try using the old hosting IP address as the IMAP host instead or point the DNS back while requesting the migration.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    Step 2 – Access the Email Import tool<\/h2>

    Go to the Emails<\/a> section, and click on Manage<\/b> next to the domain name in question. Then, open the Email Import<\/b> section on the left, <\/b>and click on New email import request<\/b>:<\/p>

    You can select the available IMAP server from the dropdown<\/strong> option.<\/p>

    Step 3 – Create the import request<\/h2>

      Prepare for import<\/b> – If you are using Google or Yahoo as your email provider, you can access the dedicated guides at this point. For any other providers, click on Next step<\/b>.

      Import from – <\/b>Enter the full email account you want to import including the domain, e.g. support@domain.tld<\/code>. Next, enter the password and IMAP mail server. Once ready, click on Next step

      Import to<\/b> – Select the destination email account from the dropdown list. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the same email account you had previously, meaning that you can migrate emails from e.g., support@domain.tld<\/code> to contact@business.tld<\/code>. Enter the destination account’s password and click on Next step

      Summary<\/b> – Once all the details are filled in, you’ll be presented with a summary of the details of the source and target email accounts. Click on Start<\/b> to begin the import:

      That’s it! You may find all the requests and their statuses in the Requests <\/b>section of the Import Email<\/b> tool:<\/p>

      Once the migration is complete, you’ll get an email notification.<\/p>

      Folder structure after import<\/h2>

      The import tool is designed to recreate your original folder structure. However, whether folders are preserved depends on how the source email provider exposes them over IMAP.<\/p>
