A website becomes overloaded when the usage of the hosting resources exceeds reasonable limits. You can find the cause of website overload in <b>cPanel <\/b>by following these easy steps:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_90f9e127b3\"><b>Step 1 &ndash; Access Resource Usage<\/b><\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\"><b><a href=\"\/support\/4469080-how-to-log-in-to-cpanel-whm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">Log into your cPanel<\/a> <\/b>account, head to the Metrics section, and click on <b>Resource Usage<\/b>:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2023\/03\/fa379dd1-8d13-4105-8458-3cedbd8d7a3e.jpg\" alt=\"The cPanel Metrics section showing how to access the Resource Usage page\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">You can also find this menu by typing it in the search bar. The<b> Resource Usage Dashboard <\/b>will show the status of your hosting resources as follows:<\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>Your site had no issues in the past 24 hours <\/b>&ndash; your website is optimized and not overloaded<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>Your site has been limited within the past 24 hours <\/b>&ndash; this indicates that your website is overloaded. You can also see which types of resources exceed the resource limits<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>Your site might hit resource limits soon <\/b>&ndash; the resource limits for your plan have been reached, and your website will be overloaded. cPanel will also show the resource type that has exceeded the limits<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2023\/03\/cdb630df-2fbf-4609-ae5c-24ef0c3970cd.jpg\" alt=\"Example of resource limit warning in cPanel that will cause website overload\"><\/div><h2 id=\"h_3b7fd92484\"><b>Step 2 &ndash; Check Resource Usage Details<\/b><\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">You can find the cause of excessive usage by clicking on the <b>Details <\/b>button or by navigating to <b>the Current Usage <\/b>tab. If you wish to change these settings, click on the <b>Timeframe and Time Unit<\/b> drop-down menu to select a different option, eg. change the time unit to minutes:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2023\/03\/f2d8153b-3b64-459d-b547-a76cb7d7077c.jpg\" alt=\"The Time unit drop-down list showing to select Minute\"><\/div><h2 id=\"h_592d1f07a2\"><b>Step 3 &ndash; Check the Snapshots<\/b><\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">You can also find the cause of website overload by clicking the <b>Snapshot <\/b>tab, where the processes for the selected timeframe will be listed, as in the following example:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2023\/03\/21a84288-21b2-4656-9d02-b23b6bfbf548.jpg\" alt=\"Example of resource usage snapshot\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">There are four columns displayed in the process list, as follows:<\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>PID<\/b> &ndash; process ID<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>CMD <\/b>&ndash; process name<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>CPU<\/b> &ndash; CPU usage<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>MEM <\/b>&ndash; the amount of memory used<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"no-margin\">In the example above, the process <b>script.php<\/b> exceeds the capacity of CPU usage as it reached 103%.
