If your website is currently connected to a generated temporary domain ending in .hostingersite.com<\/code> or .builder-preview.com<\/code>, you can easily replace it with your preferred domain name.<\/p>

Connect your preferred domain<\/h2>

To do that, go to the Websites<\/a> section, find the site in question, and click on Connect<\/b> below the temporary domain name:<\/p>

You’ll be prompted to select the preferred domain name from the list. If your preferred domain name is not on the list, it means it’s not registered under your current Hostinger account. No worries – you can type the preferred domain name in manually:<\/p>

Click Next<\/b> and proceed with the steps on the screen to finish the connection. To learn more, refer to How to point a domain to Hostinger<\/a>.<\/p>

After connecting your domain, give it some time to propagate<\/a> worldwide. Your site will be up and running on the new domain soon!<\/p>

If the domain can’t be selected<\/h2>

If you cannot select the domain and see “Your domain can’t have active subdomains” error, then it means the domain is already added in your current hosting plan.<\/p>

In such a case, you would need to remove the domain<\/a> from the hosting plan first. Make sure to download the needed backup before removing the domain!<\/p>
