If SMTP is not set up, you&rsquo;ll need to reset the user data manually using the browser terminal.<\/p><ol>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Access your VPS through a browser terminal:<\/p>\n<div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2025\/07\/760dba02-609b-48ff-9a01-e7b8d15251ca.jpg\" alt=\"Browser terminal\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Navigate to the n8n directory:<\/p>\n<div class=\"relative group\/copy bg-bg-000\/50 border-0.5 border-border-400 rounded-lg\">\n<div>\n<pre class=\"code-block__code !my-0 !rounded-lg !text-sm !leading-relaxed\"><code>cd \/docker\/n8n<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Run the following command to reset user data:<\/p>\n<pre><code>docker exec -u node root-n8n-1 n8n user-management:reset<\/code><\/pre>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">After the reset is complete, restart the container:<\/p>\n<pre><code>docker restart root-n8n-1<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><p class=\"no-margin\">Once restarted, you&rsquo;ll be prompted to create a new admin account when you access the n8n web interface.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Note: This process will delete existing users and allow you to set up a new account from scratch.
