The update removes older nodes and changes default settings. Your VPS only updates when you initiate the process. To prepare, take a snapshot, identify broken workflows, replace unsupported nodes, and run the update safely.<\/p><h3><b>Before you start<\/b><\/h3><ul>\n<li>Active <a data-click-id=\"hgr-post-content-link-hostinger-vps-plan-running-n8n\" href=\"\/support\/10473267-how-to-use-the-n8n-vps-template-at-hostinger\/\">Hostinger VPS plan running n8n<\/a> version 2.x.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h2 id=\"h-step-1-take-a-snapshot-of-your-n8n-vps\">Step 1 &ndash; Take a snapshot of your n8n VPS<\/h2><p>Create a <a data-click-id=\"hgr-post-content-link-snapshot-of-your-vps\" href=\"\/support\/1583232-how-to-back-up-or-restore-a-vps-at-hostinger\/\">snapshot of your VPS<\/a> in Hostinger dashboard before you change any settings. A snapshot saves your entire server state, including all workflows and credentials. n8n database upgrades are permanent and prevent downgrading to version 2. Restore this snapshot to recover your old setup if the upgrade fails.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-step-2-find-the-n8n-workflows-that-need-changes\">Step 2 &ndash; Find the n8n workflows that need changes<\/h2><p>Check your workflows using the built-in <b>Migration Report<\/b>. Open n8n, navigate to <b>Settings<\/b>, and select <b>Migration Report<\/b>. Publish the workflow again to save the changes. n8n 3.0 removes additional nodes, primarily older AI and vector store components. Review these three common changes before upgrading:<\/p><ul>\n<li>The Slack Trigger requires a signing secret in your Slack credential to receive events.<\/li>\n<li>Code nodes stop executing after one minute instead of five minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Unverified <a data-click-id=\"hgr-post-content-link-community-nodes\" href=\"\/support\/the-specified-package-could-not-be-loaded-when-using-n8n-community-nodes\/\">community nodes<\/a> stop loading entirely.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h2 id=\"h-step-5-upgrade-to-n8n-3-0\">Step 5 &ndash; Upgrade to n8n 3.0<\/h2><p>Update n8n after your workflows are fully prepared. A snapshot restoration reverts your entire server to its previous state.
