When your VPS receives a DDoS attack, Hostinger detects it automatically and either filters the malicious traffic or, if the attack is severe enough, null-routes the affected IP address to protect the rest of the network. To review these events, open Security, then Anti-DDoS Events, check the event type, and, if null routes keep recurring, place a Content Delivery Network (CDN), reverse proxy, or Web Application Firewall (WAF) in front of your server.

Find Anti-DDoS Events in the Hostinger VPS dashboard

To find Anti-DDoS Events, open the Security section on your VPS page in the Hostinger dashboard. Your VPS stays online and reachable during this process.

Null route applied – The attack was severe enough that Hostinger temporarily blocked all incoming traffic to the affected IP address to protect the network. Your VPS becomes unreachable on that IP address until the null route is lifted.

Reduce repeated null routes on your Hostinger VPS

To reduce repeated null routes, put a layer in front of your server so malicious traffic never reaches it directly. If your VPS keeps getting null-routed, the incoming traffic is likely too high in volume for standard filtering to handle safely. Instead of changing your VPS IP address, use one of these three options:

Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN). A CDN caches and filters traffic before it reaches your VPS, which absorbs a large share of DDoS traffic and hides your server’s real IP address.

Set up a local reverse proxy. A tool like NGINX can sit in front of your application and forward only legitimate traffic to your server.

Add a Web Application Firewall (WAF). A WAF filters requests at the application layer, blocking common attack patterns before they reach your VPS.

NOTES

Changing your VPS IP address does not remove the underlying cause of the attack.

Address the traffic at the network or application layer instead.

With Anti-DDoS Events in the Hostinger dashboard, you can see what is affecting your Hostinger VPS and take the right steps to keep it protected.

Additional resources:

How to configure an NGINX reverse proxy

How to set up a CDN: tips to improve website performance

[199

post-19594","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-vps-management
["GET
