An SRV record is intended to provide information on available services for your systems, most commonly used with SIP configuration. SRV records have a unique system for naming.<\/p>

You can manage your SRV DNS records via the DNS zone editor<\/a><\/b>. To add a new record choose the type of record as SRV<\/b>:<\/p>

If your domain is pointing elsewhere by NS records, your DNS Zone<\/b> management<\/b> is moved to the provider you pointed the domain to and should be managed from there<\/a><\/b>. <\/p>

What to use as a Name<\/h3>

The name value should follow this structure: _service._protocol<\/code>, for example:<\/p>

You don’t need to include your domain name here. It will be added automatically.<\/p>
\n<\/p>
What to use as Weight<\/h3>
Weight allows the zone administrators to distribute the load to multiple targets (load balance). This value will usually be provided by the service or protocol you are setting up. <\/p>

What to use as a Port<\/h3>
The actual port of the service offered, for instance, in the case of IMAP protocol, it could be 993.<\/p>
\n<\/p>
What to use as a Target<\/h3>
The server where the record will be pointing<\/b> – it can be a CNAME record or an IP, for example: server.example.tld<\/code> or 185.185.185.185<\/code><\/p>
\n<\/p>
What to use as a TTL<\/h3>
It is recommended to leave the default TTL<\/b> value: 14400 seconds (four hours).<\/p>
