{"id":1547,"date":"2019-02-08T10:35:55","date_gmt":"2019-02-08T10:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.hostinger.io\/support\/2019\/02\/08\/1583283-how-to-restore-a-deleted-website-in-hostinger\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T12:12:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T12:12:17","slug":"1583283-how-to-restore-a-deleted-website-in-hostinger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/1583283-how-to-restore-a-deleted-website-in-hostinger\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Restore a Deleted Website in Hostinger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"no-margin\">If you have <a href=\"\/support\/3624731-how-to-delete-a-website-from-a-hosting-plan\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">removed a website<\/a> from your hosting plan and wish to restore it, you can follow the steps below to restore it from the latest backup.<\/p><div class=\"intercom-interblocks-callout\" style=\"background-color: #e3e7fa80;border-color: #334bfa33\">\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>IMPORTANT NOTE &#10071; <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">After restoring a backup, your website will be returned to its state at the moment of backup creation &mdash; any changes done after the backup date will be reverted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">The process depends on how your website was created:<\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">For WordPress websites, start with step 1 and follow the WordPress restoration instructions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">For other CMS platforms, follow steps 1 to 3, skipping the WordPress restoration in step 1.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">For websites built with Hostinger Website Builder, <a href=\"\/support\/1583780-how-to-contact-hostinger-support\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">contact us<\/a>, and we&rsquo;ll assist you with the restoration.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_6645e2626c\">Step 1 &mdash; Re-add your domain to a hosting plan<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">Add the deleted domain to your hosting plan:<\/p><ol>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Navigate to the <a href=\"https:\/\/hpanel.hostinger.com\/websites\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\" rel=\"noopener\">Websites<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Select <b>Add website <\/b>&rarr; <b>Empty website<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Enter the domain name of the deleted site.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><p class=\"no-margin\">If your website was connected to a subdomain, make sure to <a href=\"\/support\/1583405-how-to-create-and-delete-subdomains\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">recreate the subdomain<\/a> before adding it to a hosting plan.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h3 id=\"h_046a8bc78f\">WordPress restoration<\/h3><p class=\"no-margin\">For websites created using a different CMS or custom code, skip this part and proceed to the next step. If the deleted website was created using WordPress, use this option.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Choose the domain and preferred date from the available backups in the dropdown list, and click on Restore website:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2019\/02\/425a6658-da82-4cfc-9017-8adc042f27bc.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\"><b>NOTE<\/b><\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">If you get a <b>No backups found<\/b> message on this section, try the <a href=\"\/support\/4283700-how-to-restore-backups-at-hostinger#h_a6a8254045\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">files backups method<\/a> instead:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2019\/02\/238345b5-c108-4cb3-a9d7-b9d223b707ac.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">After clicking on the <b>Restore<\/b> button, confirm that you understand that restoring the selected backup version will replace current website files and databases, then click again on <b>Restore<\/b>:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2019\/02\/97e6a28f-a9b2-47f7-80cc-914239a96870.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Usually, the restoration process takes 10&ndash;15 minutes, depending on the size of your website; the larger the backup, the longer it may take. To find this information, use the <a href=\"\/support\/4548688-basic-actions-in-file-manager\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">File Manager<\/a> to open the <a href=\"\/support\/3313359-where-to-find-your-website-s-configuration-file\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">configuration file<\/a> located in the root folder of the restored website<\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">For domains &mdash; the <b>domain.tld\/public_html<\/b> folder.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">For subdomains &mdash; <b>domain.tld\/public_html\/subdomain<\/b> folder.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><div class=\"intercom-interblocks-callout\" style=\"background-color: #e3e7fa80;border-color: #334bfa33\">\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Make sure to replace <b>domain.tld<\/b> and <b>subdomain<\/b> with the name of your domain or subdomain &#11014;&#65039; <\/p>\n<\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">Then, navigate to <a href=\"https:\/\/hpanel.hostinger.com\/websites\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\" rel=\"noopener\">Websites<\/a><b> <\/b>&rarr; <b>Dashboard<\/b>, and search for database <b>Management <\/b>on the sidebar:<br>&#8203;<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2019\/02\/dfec7058-280c-4eb2-8c4d-f7b7b743351e.jpg\" alt=\"The database management menu item\" width=\"250\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">To create a new MySQL database and database user, enter the database name, username, and password from your website&rsquo;s configuration file and click on <b>Create<\/b>.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h3 id=\"h_84f5f3217b\">Restore the database<\/h3><p class=\"no-margin\">Navigate to <a href=\"https:\/\/hpanel.hostinger.com\/websites\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\" rel=\"noopener\">Websites<\/a> &rarr; <b>Dashboard<\/b>, and search for <b>Backups <\/b>on the sidebar. Click on <b>Restore and download<\/b> then <b>Database backups<\/b>.
