This can be a <b>matter of preference<\/b>, and you can set up your domain to be accessed in both ways.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">If you&rsquo;re currently facing issues when trying to reach your website with <b>www<\/b>, while your root domain is working, make sure that there is a properly set up record for the host <b>www<\/b> on your domain&rsquo;s DNS zone. Just follow the steps depending on where your domain is pointing: <\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\"><b>NOTES<\/b><\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">Some services (such as <b><a href=\"\/support\/4739279-how-to-point-a-domain-to-blogger-blogspot\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">Blogger<\/a><\/b> or <b><a href=\"\/support\/1583434-how-to-point-a-domain-to-shopify\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">Shopify<\/a><\/b>) require specific values for this record; in that case, you should consult with your service provider<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">For <b>SEO<\/b> purposes, having a website available through only one URL is better; if needed, you can <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/tutorials\/cpanel\/how-to-redirect-non-www-urls-to-www\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">create a redirection from non-www to www<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\">As a general rule, <b>subdomains do not use www<\/b>; if you need your subdomain to work with <b>www<\/b>, make sure to create the corresponding <b>www <\/b>record for your subdomain in addition to that for your domain<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_3600c9d6bb\">Domain Pointing to Hostinger<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">Go to the domain&rsquo;s <b><a href=\"\/support\/1583249-how-to-manage-my-dns-records-at-hostinger\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">DNS Zone in your hPanel<\/a><\/b> and search for a <b>CNAME record<\/b> with the name <b>www<\/b>. It should be pointing to your root domain:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2019\/02\/01e48482-ddd4-46ec-a31b-334aab9c32ab.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">If the content of the CNAME record is different, click on <b>Edit <\/b>and change the target to your root domain name.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Alternatively, you may find an <b>A record<\/b> with the name <b>www <\/b>pointing to <b><a href=\"\/support\/4407303-where-can-i-find-a-record\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">your account&rsquo;s IP<\/a><\/b> <b>instead<\/b> of the CNAME record:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2019\/02\/0d97ab64-443a-4ff7-af9e-a081f1d4a103.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">If there is an A record for <b>www<\/b> that&nbsp;<b>points to a different IP<\/b>, click on <b>Delete<\/b> to remove it. <\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">In this case, or if <b>neither of these A nor CNAME records is present<\/b>, add <b>only the CNAME record<\/b> using the following parameters:<\/p><ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>Name (Host):<\/b> www<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>Target (Points to):<\/b> your root domain (e.g. domain.tld)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"no-margin\"><b>TTL:<\/b> Leave the default value (14400)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"no-margin\">You can see this guide for more detailed information on CNAME records and how to add them: <b><a href=\"\/support\/4738777-how-to-manage-cname-records-on-hpanel\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">How to Manage CNAME Records on hPanel<\/a><\/b>.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">If you&rsquo;ve made changes to the DNS zone of your domain, it can take up to <b>24 hours <\/b> until the <b><a href=\"\/support\/4146975-what-is-dns-propagation\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">propagation<\/a><\/b> process is completed and your domain is reachable with <b>www<\/b>.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_1199107d94\">Domain Pointing to Other Registrars<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">Go to the domain&rsquo;s <b>DNS Zone<\/b> on your registrar or provider&rsquo;s panel and search for a <b>www CNAME record<\/b> pointing to your root domain.
