Getting to know these phases can help you keep your domain active and <b>avoid losing it<\/b>.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">This cycle can be divided into the following phases:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_a7c999b1ff\">Available<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">All domains start by being available for purchase. To register a new domain, go to our <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/domain-checker\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">Domain Checker<\/a><\/b>, where you can also explore alternative options in case your preferred name is already taken.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_94231fa658\">Active<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">The domain becomes <b>active <\/b>after you purchase it and complete the <b><a href=\"\/support\/6086871-what-are-the-requirements-for-registering-a-new-domain\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">registration<\/a><\/b> process. While the minimum active period is <b>one year<\/b>, some domain extensions can be registered or renewed for longer. The redemption period&rsquo;s length, if present, depends on the TLD.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"h_aa489023a6\">Pending Deletion<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">When the redemption period ends, or if the domain has a grace period but not redemption, the domain moves to the <b>pending deletion<\/b> phase. The only option to recover a domain pending deletion is to wait until it&rsquo;s fully deleted.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Once it&rsquo;s available, it is possible to repurchase it.
