{"id":1290,"date":"2020-01-09T09:34:38","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T09:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.hostinger.io\/support\/2020\/01\/09\/3621450-how-to-use-imunify360-on-hostinger-cpanel\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T19:00:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T19:00:13","slug":"3621450-how-to-use-imunify360-on-hostinger-cpanel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/3621450-how-to-use-imunify360-on-hostinger-cpanel\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Use Imunify360 on Hostinger cPanel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"no-margin\">Malicious Software commonly referred to as malware is a type of software or application created with the aim of damaging computers, networks and other applications.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Malware is dangerous because it can be misused for illegal purposes and affect your website&rsquo;s performance and risk having a hosting plan suspended if it is spreading malware, even inadvertently. <\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">If you do find any malicious content, here are the steps that you should take in order to clean the malware:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"1-update-all-scripts-to-the-latest-version\">Update All Scripts to The Latest Version<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">Make sure that all of your applications and scripts are always up to date. If you use WordPress, check if there are any new updates in your website&rsquo;s Admin and plugins\/themes section.<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Also, make sure to enable the auto-update feature, so that your WordPress is always automatically updated to the latest version:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/01\/621157a0-d149-4652-818a-a2a870e43610.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><h2 id=\"2-activate-kill-mode-on-proactive-defense-imunify360\">Kill Mode on Proactive Defense Imunify360<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">By default, Kill Mode is enabled in the Proactive Defense Imunify360 software, which can immediately stop malicious scripts and prevents them from spreading. <\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">To check it, <b><a href=\"\/support\/4469075-how-to-log-in-to-cpanel\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link\">log in into your cPanel<\/a><\/b>, and select <b>Imunify360<\/b> from the Security section:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/01\/c305bd02-95a9-4329-b95e-51d82988bdec.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Click the <b>Proactive Defense<\/b> menu on your Imunify360 dashboard, you&rsquo;ll see the Kill Mode enabled:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/01\/4e48fc00-3775-4d4e-aa14-e6763c5c9965.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">In case a suspicious file is detected but it was not automatically deleted, go to  the <b>Malware Scanner <\/b>tab and delete the malicious file by clicking on the broom icon under <b>Actions <\/b>section:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/01\/bf51faeb-bab9-42a0-8e0d-1ba95f6b7ffb.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Next, click <b>Yes, Clean Up to delete the file. <\/b>You will get a notification like below in the upper right corner of the Imunify dashboard if the file is successfully deleted:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/01\/681a2012-e912-4def-bc13-9e96ccacb9e1.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">If there are several files, you can use <b>Clean Up All<\/b> to delete them all at one time:<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/01\/6169d48e-ef00-4fd6-ac0e-826520c5beba.jpg\"><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">\n<\/p><p class=\"no-margin\">Once done, perform the malware cleanup again to ensure all malicious files were deleted and the website is fully clean &#128522;
