This interface serves as a central repository for integration credentials&mdash;such as API keys for AI providers&mdash;and operational configurations like your WebUI password.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This guide covers how to view, modify, and securely deploy environment variables to your active Hermes agent.<br>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12271\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image2-1-1024x435.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image2-1-1024x435.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image2-1-300x128.png 300w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image2-1-768x327.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image2-1-1536x653.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image2-1.png 1999w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><br>\n<\/span><\/p><h3><b>Before you start<\/b><\/h3><ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You must have an active Hostinger Managed Hermes service.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ensure you have the necessary API keys or credentials from your third-party providers ready.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><h2 id=\"h-step-1-navigate-to-the-environments-interface\"><b>Step 1 &mdash; Navigate to the Environments interface<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To view or adjust your configuration data, open the environmental settings panel inside your control area:<\/span><\/p><ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Log in to your Hostinger account to access the hPanel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Navigate to your <\/span><b>Managed Hermes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> dashboard.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Select the <\/span><b>Environments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> option from the management menu.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><h2 id=\"h-step-2-view-your-variables\"><b>Step 2 &mdash; View your variables<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once inside the environment screen, you can audit your configured keys:<\/span><\/p><ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Review your parameters displayed in the central table.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For security, sensitive values are masked by default (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&bull;&bull;&bull;&bull;&bull;&bull;&bull;&bull;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) but can be unmasked individually or all at once using the visibility controls.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><h2 id=\"h-step-3-add-edit-or-delete-variables\"><b>Step 3 &mdash; Add, edit, or delete variables<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can scale your agent&rsquo;s capabilities by updating your configuration list. Any changes you make here will be staged until you deploy them:<\/span><\/p><ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>To add a variable:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Click the <\/span><b>Add environment variable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> button and enter the required Key and Value fields.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12272\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image1-1.png 980w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image1-1-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image1-1-768x429.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>To edit a variable:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Click on an edit button for the variable you want to modify its name or value string.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12273\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image3-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"972\" height=\"546\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image3-1.png 972w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image3-1-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/07\/image3-1-768x431.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 972px) 100vw, 972px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>To remove a variable:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Click the delete icon next to a variable and accept the confirmation prompt.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><h3><b>Protected (System-Managed) variables<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Certain parameters are automatically managed by Hermes to prevent core application failures and are marked with a &ldquo;system managed&rdquo; info icon.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For example, your <\/span><b>WebUI password<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> variable is protected; you can edit its value to change your password, but you cannot rename or delete the variable key itself.<\/span><\/p><h2 id=\"h-step-4-save-and-redeploy-the-agent\"><b>Step 4 &mdash; Save and redeploy the agent<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Staged changes do not apply to your live agent immediately. To push your updates live:<\/span><\/p><ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Click the <\/span><b>Save &amp; redeploy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> button.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Confirm the prompt in the dialog box. This action <\/span><b>restarts your Managed Hermes agent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> so it can successfully initialize with the new parameters.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><p><b>IMPORTANT NOTE<\/b><\/p><ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Permanent Deletion:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> If you delete API keys or configurations directly from within the Hermes CLI or the Hermes WebUI, the removal is only temporary for variables that were originally added via the hPanel Environments functionality. These keys <\/span><b>will reappear<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as soon as the application restarts.
