In case <b><a class=\"intercom-content-link\" href=\"\/support\/1583232-how-can-i-backup-or-restore-my-vps-server\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restoring a backup<\/a> <\/b>is not an option, you can access your VPS using <b>Emergency mode<\/b> as a last resort option to retrieve your data from a corrupted or broken VPS (note: Emergency mode will not help retrieve backups in an expired VPS plan).<\/p><p><strong>NOTE<\/strong><\/p><ul>\n<li>Emergency mode will not help retrieve backups from an expired VPS plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h2 id=\"h-enable-emergency-mode\">Enable emergency mode<\/h2><p class=\"no-margin\">To enable it, navigate to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/5726606-how-to-use-the-vps-dashboard-in-hostinger\/\"><b>VPS <\/b>section<\/a> of your Hostinger dashboard and click on Manage next to your chosen server<b>. <\/b>Next, open the <b>Settings<\/b> page:<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container intercom-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17995 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/09\/2026-09-07_23-37.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"724\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/09\/2026-09-07_23-37.png 660w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/09\/2026-09-07_23-37-273x300.png 273w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">Once there, go to the <b>Emergency mode <\/b>tab and enable<b> Emergency mode toggle<\/b>:<\/p><div class=\"intercom-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14652\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/08\/2026-08-06_13-17.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1678\" height=\"343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/08\/2026-08-06_13-17.png 1678w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/08\/2026-08-06_13-17-300x61.png 300w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/08\/2026-08-06_13-17-1024x209.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/08\/2026-08-06_13-17-768x157.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2026\/08\/2026-08-06_13-17-1536x314.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1678px) 100vw, 1678px\" \/><\/div><p class=\"no-margin\">Wait a <b>few minutes<\/b> for the emergency mode to fully activate. Once enabled, you will be able to access your server files under the <b>\/mnt<\/b> directory either through FileZilla or a web-based file manager with the access provided.
