We&rsquo;ll walk you through the process on <strong>Windows<\/strong>, <strong>macOS<\/strong>, and <strong>Linux<\/strong>.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-flush-dns-cache-on-windows-10-and-windows-11\">How to flush DNS cache on Windows 10 and Windows 11<\/h3><p>Flushing DNS on Windows is similar across most versions, especially newer ones. Follow these steps:<\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the<strong> magnifying glass <\/strong>icon on the top menu bar. Alternatively, press<strong> Command <\/strong>+ <strong>spacebar<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Spotlight Search<\/strong> menu, find <strong>Terminal<\/strong>. This will grant you the required admin privileges to run the command.<\/li>\n<\/ol><p>On macOS, most DNS flush commands don&rsquo;t display a confirmation message, even when they work. If you run the command and don&rsquo;t see an error, it likely completed successfully. To double-check, try visiting a website you recently accessed. For example, Ubuntu uses <strong>dnsmasq<\/strong>, while Red Hat Enterprise Linux typically utilizes <strong>NCSD<\/strong>.<\/p><p>If you&rsquo;re unsure which DNS service your system uses, check it by running the following command in Terminal. It should redownload all the DNS details when you revisit a website.<\/li>\n<\/ol><p><div><p class=\"important\"><strong>Important!<\/strong> Safari doesn&rsquo;t have a page for flushing the DNS cache and uses the system-level configuration instead. This means resetting your macOS system&rsquo;s DNS will also flush the web browser&rsquo;s data.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-flush-dns\">Why flush DNS?<\/h2><p>Flushing your DNS cache removes outdated or incorrect data that can interfere with how websites load. While DNS records usually expire on their own (thanks to a setting called time-to-live, or TTL), some situations call for a manual refresh.<\/p><p>A common example is troubleshooting website issues.
