Besides uploading and extracting files, you can also use it for creating files and folders, assigning permission, etc.<\/p><p>Basically, it shares the same functionality as an <a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/what-is-ftp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FTP<\/a> client, although not as powerful.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-1-how-to-find-the-file-manager\">Step 1. How to Find the File Manager<\/h3><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once you&rsquo;ve logged into your cPanel account, you should find the <strong>File Manager<\/strong>. It&rsquo;s located under the <strong>Files<\/strong> section. All of the remaining folders are mostly required by the system to ensure the cPanel service is working properly.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-2-how-to-navigate-the-file-manager\">Step 2. How to Navigate the File Manager<\/h3><p>First of all, there&rsquo;s a window section that shows you a folder tree on the left, and a folder&rsquo;s contents on the right. You can navigate to a folder by clicking on the appropriate one. For example, when you&rsquo;re on <strong>cgi-bin<\/strong> folder and click this, it&rsquo;ll bring you back to the <strong>public_html<\/strong> folder, which is a higher level than the cgi-bin folder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Back\/Forward<\/strong> &mdash; works pretty much the same as back\/forward navigation in your web browser<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reload<\/strong> &mdash; refresh the page to show changes made<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select\/Unselect All<\/strong> &mdash; to select or unselect files or folders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>View Trash<\/strong> &mdash; shows the <strong>Trash<\/strong> folder where all deleted files reside<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Empty Trash<\/strong> &mdash; to clear the <strong>Trash<\/strong> folder. You can only use this feature while in the <strong>Trash<\/strong> folder<\/li>\n<\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-3-using-the-file-management-features\">Step 3. Using the File Management Features<\/h3><p>After learning about navigation, the next important thing is to get to know the file management features. Here we&rsquo;ll create an <strong>index.php<\/strong> file in the <strong>public_html<\/strong> folder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Folder<\/strong> &ndash; this feature lets you create a new folder. Here, we&rsquo;ll create one named <strong>test-folder<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copy<\/strong>&ndash; you can copy the selected file to a specific destination. We&rsquo;re going to copy the <strong>index.php<\/strong> that we&rsquo;ve created to the <strong>test-folder<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Move<\/strong> &ndash; This feature works exactly like <strong>Copy<\/strong>. The only difference is that the file will be removed from its original location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Upload<\/strong> &ndash; here you can upload a file to your hosting account. However, you can&rsquo;t upload folders. To upload folder or larger file, you can use an <a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/ftp\/filezilla-ftp-configuration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FTP client like FileZilla<\/a>. You have two options to upload the file, either directly drag and drop it or select the file from your computer manually. Once you finished, click the <strong>Go Back to<\/strong> link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Download &ndash; <\/strong>this feature will download the selected files to your computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Delete<\/strong> &ndash; this option moves the selected file to the Trash folder. If you want to remove the file permanently, check the Skip the trash and permanently delete the files box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Restore &ndash; <\/strong>This feature is only available when you&rsquo;re in the Trash folder. You can restore a removed file to its folder origin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rename\/Edit\/HTML Editor &ndash; <\/strong>You&rsquo;ll need these features to edit your files. They work pretty similarly like any text editor software and can be quite a help for editing on the go. Though it uses a <a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/wysiwyg-web-builders\">WYSIWYG<\/a> interface, it&rsquo;s not quite powerful as other <a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/best-html-editors\">HTML editor<\/a><a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/best-html-editors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> softw<\/a><a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/best-html-editors\">are<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Permissions<\/strong> &ndash; You need this feature to assign permission to a specific file or folder. We recommend you don&rsquo;t change anything unless you completely understand what you&rsquo;re doing, as changing the wrong permission can cause your website problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>View<\/strong> &ndash; Use this to view a file, for example, to open a picture or view the content of the <strong>index.php<\/strong> file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extract\/Compress &ndash; <\/strong>With compress, you can archive chosen content to a Zip, Gzip, or Bzip2 format. Extract will do the opposite &ndash; extract an archive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Settings &ndash; <\/strong>With this feature you can set up your preferences. For example, you can set the default folder to open whenever you use the <strong>File Manager<\/strong>. You can also choose to <strong>Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)<\/strong>. For example, if you want to edit <a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/htaccess\/how-to-restrict-access-to-your-website-for-everyone-except-you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">.htaccess to restrict access<\/a> to certain aspects of your website.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>That&rsquo;s basically all you need to know about the navigation and management features on the <strong>File Manager<\/strong>. The usage depends on many factors, including visitors, email communication, and may include the FTP connection.<\/p><p>You need to take a closer look at bandwidth usage, as it usually relates to the hosting plan that you subscribed to. cPanel will send an automated email notification when you&rsquo;re close to the limit.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-1-access-a-short-summary-of-bandwidth-usage\">Step 1. If you&rsquo;re going to manage that domain yourself, you don&rsquo;t need to create one. However, if you wish to set up the addon domain for someone else, you can check the <strong>Create an FTP account associated with this Addon Domain<\/strong>. In <strong>Name<\/strong>, you can enter the hostname for the record. In <strong>Address<\/strong>, you can enter the IPv4 address that you would like to point to. In the <strong>Name<\/strong>, enter the hostname for the record. It&rsquo;s commonly used for connecting websites and services that are hosted separately. Several services that usually use this are IMAP\/POP3\/<a href=\"\/my\/tutorials\/smtp-port\">SMTP<\/a>, Minecraft servers, Teamspeak 3, etc.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-srv-record-details\">SRV Record Details<\/h3><p>There are several details in the SRV record that you need to input according to the <strong>service<\/strong>, <strong>protocol<\/strong>, and <strong>host<\/strong> that you use:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Name<\/strong> &mdash; the domain name used by the service. It should end with a dot, e.g., <strong>_minecraft._tcp.yourdomain.com.<\/strong> (<strong>Note:<\/strong> Only use underscores before <strong>service<\/strong> and <strong>protocol<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>TTL<\/strong> (Time to Live) &mdash; limits the lifetime of a specific record. The default value is 14400<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Priority<\/strong> &mdash; defines which records should be prioritized. Lower value &nbsp;is better<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Weight<\/strong> &mdash; determines which records have the same preference should be prioritized first. A higher value means preferable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Port<\/strong> &mdash; the port number used by the service<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Target<\/strong> &mdash; the destination <strong>hostname<\/strong> where the SRV record will be pointed to, e.g., <strong>minecraft.server.com<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p>In this tutorial for cPanel, we&rsquo;ll use Minecraft as an example. You can get the value details directly from the service provider &mdash; they will generate the SRV record details for you. All you have to do is restore it on the VPS so that you can manage the account in its new home.<\/p><p>There are two methods that you can do to restore the file, restoring from the existing backup or a local backup file. Either way, you need to have the proper file in hand.<\/p><p>Things needed:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access to the WHM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full cPanel backup.
