A customer support agent, for example, might be allowed to view customer records and update support tickets but prevented from accessing billing information or issuing refunds.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guardrails add rules for how the agent should operate within those permissions. They can restrict certain actions, set limits or conditions, require approval before higher-risk decisions, and determine when the agent should stop and escalate a task to a person. <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance, a sales agent might send routine follow-ups independently but require approval before offering a discount to a prospect.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, these controls allow businesses to give agents sufficient access to perform useful work without granting them more authority than the task requires.<\/p><h3 and integrations it needs. <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also handles executing actions, such as calling an API, retrieving data, or sending a request to another connected service.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an AaaS model, the provider typically manages this environment, including its deployment, availability, maintenance, and scaling as usage changes.<\/p><h3 It coordinates when the AI model is used, which connected tools the agent calls, what information is passed between them, and what happens after each action.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This coordination allows an agent to carry out multi-step<a href=\"\/in\/tutorials\/agentic-workflows\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\"> <\/a><a href=\"\/in\/tutorials\/agentic-workflows\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\">agentic workflows<\/a> instead of completing every request in a single action. <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, a reporting agent could retrieve sales data, analyze the results, notice an unexpected decline, pull additional data to investigate it, and then prepare a report based on its findings. <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orchestration keeps these steps connected and makes the result of each step available to the next.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a service uses several specialized agents, orchestration can also coordinate<a href=\"\/in\/tutorials\/multi-agent-systems\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\"> <\/a><a href=\"\/in\/tutorials\/multi-agent-systems\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\">multi-agent systems<\/a>. <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It determines which agent handles each part of the task and passes relevant information between them. <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One agent might research competitors and pass the findings to a marketing agent that uses them to develop campaign ideas.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AaaS can support both single-agent and multi-agent architectures.
