You should consider <a href=\"\/ca\/tutorials\/backup-wordpress\/\">backing up your WordPress site<\/a> before making any changes in your database to prevent possible data loss.\n            <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-perform-search-and-replace-on-a-wordpress-database\">How to perform search and replace on a WordPress database?<\/h2><p>There are three ways to perform a search and replace on a WordPress database &mdash; using a plugin, WP-CLI via SSH, or a <a href=\"\/ca\/tutorials\/what-is-mysql\/\">MySQL<\/a> query.<\/p><p>The plugin method is ideal if you prefer a visual interface. WP-CLI works well if you have SSH access and want a single command that covers the entire database. The MySQL query gives you the most control, letting you target specific tables and fields.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-using-a-plugin\">Using a plugin<\/h3><p>This method is ideal for users with no programming experience. With a plugin, you get to run a search and replace operation as many times as needed without dealing with a single line of code.<\/p><p>In this tutorial, we&rsquo;re going to use <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/better-search-replace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Better Search Replace<\/a>, one of the <a href=\"\/ca\/tutorials\/best-wordpress-plugins\/\">best WordPress plugins<\/a> for this purpose.<\/p><p>Better Search Replace has plenty of useful features for managing your WordPress database. Its features besides search and replace include but are not limited to a backup creator, and database import features.<\/p><p>If you only need the search and replace function, the free version will do just fine. It looks something like this:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"generic\" data-enlighter-theme=\"\" data-enlighter-highlight=\"\" data-enlighter-linenumbers=\"\" data-enlighter-lineoffset=\"\" data-enlighter-title=\"\" data-enlighter-group=\"\">ssh -p 65002 u123456789@185.185.185.185<\/pre><ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Use SSH client<\/strong> &mdash; click <strong>PuTTY<\/strong> to download the client. Open PuTTY, enter the server IP in the <strong>Host Name<\/strong> field, the port in the <strong>Port<\/strong> field, select <strong>SSH<\/strong> as the connection type, and click <strong>Open<\/strong>. Enter your username and password when the terminal window appears.<\/li>\n<\/ol><p>Enter your SSH password when prompted.<\/p><ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to your WordPress root directory. On Hostinger, the path follows the <strong>domains<\/strong> folder structure:<\/li>\n<\/ol><pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"generic\" data-enlighter-theme=\"\" data-enlighter-highlight=\"\" data-enlighter-linenumbers=\"\" data-enlighter-lineoffset=\"\" data-enlighter-title=\"\" data-enlighter-group=\"\">cd domains\/domain.tld\/public_html<\/pre><p>Replace <strong>domain.tld<\/strong> with your actual domain name.<\/p><ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Run a dry run first to preview the changes without modifying the database:<\/li>\n<\/ol><pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"generic\" data-enlighter-theme=\"\" data-enlighter-highlight=\"\" data-enlighter-linenumbers=\"\" data-enlighter-lineoffset=\"\" data-enlighter-title=\"\" data-enlighter-group=\"\">wp search-replace 'old-text' 'new-text' --dry-run<\/pre><p>Replace <strong>old-text<\/strong> with the word or phrase you want to find, and <strong>new-text<\/strong> with its replacement. The <strong>&ndash;dry-run<\/strong> flag shows how many replacements would be made in each table without executing them.<\/p><ol start=\"6\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the output.
