But unlike Spotlight Search, the Command Palette allows you to do many more than just find things.<\/p><p>Operations such as open, close, publish, delete, and many more can be run from within the Command Palette. Let&rsquo;s see what you can do with it.&nbsp;<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-where-is-the-command-palette\">Where is the Command Palette?<\/h2><p>Because the Command Palette is built into WordPress core, you can use it for any website using any theme. However, you can only experience the Command Palette&rsquo;s full power when you use a block theme.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Block themes use the Site Editor, which allows you to create your site only with <a href=\"\/ca\/tutorials\/wordpress-blocks\">WordPress blocks<\/a> and without any code. However, as you might expect, the Command Palette is very contextual. For example, you can <a href=\"\/ca\/tutorials\/how-to-add-a-new-post-in-wordpress\">publish a post<\/a> or page in the Post\/Page Editor, not the Site Editor.<\/p><p>The quickest way to find a command is to type the first letter of a word or phrase and see its results.&nbsp;<\/p><p>After pressing &#8984; + K to reveal the Command Palette, I entered the letter <strong>A<\/strong> to view some options to get me started. You will see what a time-saver the Command Palette can be for you.<\/p><p>If you are new to block themes, you&rsquo;ll find the Site Editor in <strong>Appearance<\/strong>. This is where you will find the real power of the Command Palette.<\/p><p>When you are working in the Site Editor, you can easily move around to these major sections just by typing the name of the section into the Command Palette:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Style<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Templates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patterns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Edit template parts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>View site<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Some commands, like Templates and Patterns, are also available in the Post and Page Editor. Accessing these commands on the Post and Page Editor will take you to the Site Editor, saving you a few clicks to navigate between the interfaces.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-commands-that-will-speed-up-your-workflow\">Commands that will speed up your workflow<\/h2><p>Here are some Command Palette usage examples to save you time and speed things up.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jump-to-edit-a-post\">Jump to edit a post<\/h3><p>Do you need to jump to a different post or page to edit? There is no need to navigate to the <strong>All Pages <\/strong>list. However, most developers have yet to integrate the Command Palette into their plugins. Two notable exceptions are the <strong>Block Visibility <\/strong>and<strong> RSVPMaker <\/strong>plugins. Both allow for the use of commands specific to their plugins.<\/p><p>For example, the Block Visibility plugin allows for the use of a <strong>Manage Visibility Presets<\/strong> command. If I select this option, a modal opens where I can create and manage a predefined condition to display or hide a block.&nbsp;<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure data-wp-context='{\"imageId\":\"69e1ccb37703f\"}' data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-lightbox-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on-async--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/06\/image-3.png\" alt=\"Using the Command Palette to work with a plugin\" class=\"wp-image-111763\"  sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><button class=\"lightbox-trigger\" type=\"button\" aria-haspopup=\"dialog\" aria-label=\"Enlarge\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.initTriggerButton\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-style--right=\"state.imageButtonRight\" data-wp-style--top=\"state.imageButtonTop\">\n\t\t\t<svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"12\" height=\"12\" fill=\"none\" viewbox=\"0 0 12 12\">\n\t\t\t\t<path fill=\"#fff\" d=\"M2 0a2 2 0 0 0-2 2v2h1.5V2a.5.5 0 0 1 .5-.5h2V0H2Zm2 10.5H2a.5.5 0 0 1-.5-.5V8H0v2a2 2 0 0 0 2 2h2v-1.5ZM8 12v-1.5h2a.5.5 0 0 0 .5-.5V8H12v2a2 2 0 0 1-2 2H8Zm2-12a2 2 0 0 1 2 2v2h-1.5V2a.5.5 0 0 0-.5-.5H8V0h2Z\"><\/path>\n\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t<\/button><\/figure><\/div><p>While the above shows that I&rsquo;m using the Page Editor, this command is also available in the Site Editor.&nbsp;<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-future-of-the-command-palette\">The future of the Command Palette<\/h2><p>While the Command Palette is a new WordPress feature that still needs some polishing, it is a tool you can use right now to speed up website management.<\/p><p>Once the entire WordPress admin interface is redesigned, you might be able to use the Command Palette beyond the Post\/Page and Site Editors.&nbsp;Need to install or delete a plugin? Want to update a theme? The Command Palette has the potential to make it easier in the future.
